365 grateful {week 1}

This year I decided I am going to really focus on a more thankful heart (i need it) and to document one thing a day that I am grateful for. I already take one photo a day and document a lot of our lives, but this time I wanted more of a focus of things I am thankful for.

I thought this was an original idea to do 365 Grateful. I was wrong ;) I used the hashtag #365Grateful and quickly realized it wasn’t the only one who thought of this. Which is kind of wonderful, if ya think about it!

It has already proven to be a really good challenge for me!

Day 1: For the little reminders that even on the roughest, most terrible-horrible-no-good-very-bad-day (parenting) days…They are here: blessings and breathing. For that I am beyond thankful, even on the bad days. 399982_10151222827171989_1787098207_n

Day 2: For time to play pirates with them. 249860_10151219810606989_1399339288_n

Day 3: For priceless moments like this one with Grandma Anisa.74366_10151224650856989_2043778841_nDay 4: For this little loud one.

Day 5: For a spontaneous homemade lunch with a dear friend.64903_10151226767956989_1899895055_n

Day 6: For insurance for an idiotic mistake I made yesterday :)

5 months.

I’m so behind in catching up that Shai is now already {7 months} old and I’m just playing catchup on here about this beautiful boy that’s stolen a part of my heart.

At 5 months he really began to move. This child has loved tummy-time from the beginning. Weird, right? Chaseyboy hated it which probably explains why Chase didn’t really crawl until around 8 months and then he instead decided walking was better. Shailo is way different in this way, and really in many ways.

He. is. really. this. happy.

by 5 months, doing a photoshoot – on a couch- with a little wiggler baby was a little interesting. and each month it gets more and more interesting and {A LOT} shorter and with fewer photos. haha :)

Now for the everyday moments captured by my phone…

In his 5th month: we were settling in our new home. he made a little friend in the little girl I watch (she’s 3 weeks older and he absolutely loves her). his teeth buds began to show. he began really sitting up by himself with the help of a boppy to save his falls (this was much later than Chase but Chase also didn’t like his tummy like Shai does – love that even that is different about them :)), he took the longest nap (for him, he’s my catnapper baby) to date – 2.5 hours!

 he. absolutely.adores. his daddy and his brother. he began doing what we’re calling “push-ups”, he made a little friend in the little girl I watch (she’s 3 weeks older and he absolutely loves her).

he moved into a pack n’ play (beside our bed. working on some fear-based things but this is something i still need. to have him close. i have a goal to try and move him to a different room with Chase at the end of summer. huge huge thing, for me, not them….)

his eyes are still bright blue (Chaseyboy’s had turned by now), he started really scootin’, started sticking his tongue out – so cute, he started doing this little giggle where he’d force it and squint and close his eyes as he did – adorable!

he attended his first art show ;) and in his 5th month, he was still as happy as ever.

I could cry at how fast time is flying by. It seems like it’s at full speed currently. He (and my Chaseyboy) are getting so big so fast. I mean, Chase will be 3 in just one month! Just wow.

4 months.

Sadly, all of the photos of Shai from his 4 month photo shoot, were deleted before they were even uploaded. I have not a one. That was a sad moment but that’s okay, because thankfully I took quite a bit of photos during his 4th month of life ;) Here are the ones taken from my phone.

I feel as though each new month I say that same thing and that is that this is my favourite age. I just absolutely adore  watching Shai’s personality shine with each passing month.

In his 4th month: he (unfortunetly but thankfully) spent his first time (of many) in the jumperoo as we packed and moved and unpacked, he started doing the same “pterodactyl scream” Chaseyboy did at that age, he chomped and chomped on everything, he started scootin’ around, he started really getting some hair, started really interacting with brother more…

He is an absolute JOY. He is truly such a happy baby and oh-so-sweet!

There’s a snitbit of Shai’s 4th month. Ya know, only a few months behind! ;)

insta-friday {4}

joining in with Life Rearranged for Insta-Friday fun :) Here are bits and pieces of the last 3 weeks

If you follow me on instagram you’ll sure see a lot of these two :)

Middle: Chase is currently obsessed with Cars 2 that Grandma Anisa bought him. Here (middle pic) he was picking up his cars and showing Shailo each one; “Franchesso” “Liking Makeen” and “madar”. So stinkin’ cute!

Right: We also found our Bumbo seat for Shailo and he {loves} it as he prefers to be upright and looking around.

Shai turned 3 months old this past week.

Chase and I working on a wreath. He peeled off every sticker on the back of the felt and “we” made a million-bazillion flowers for this particular wreath. A bit of a DIY coming soon (for the flowers).

Left: One night while crafting (on my current crafting space which is our living room floor) I turned to find my littlest man had rolled for the first time ever! {Shocked} me! Right: clean baby smells and smiles.

Left: Chase enjoying a mustache pop that was from a frozen bunch from our Mustache or Bows party. (I don’t like them anyways, but ew? he loved it.) Middle: Chase is a good big brother but has had a rough go round the past few weeks. We decided to start taking him out, with just one of us – daddy or momma – and {just} Chasey-boy on mini dates to even just simple errands like a late night Target run, or a grocery or bank run, etc. He’s really loved those special times. Right: Chase enjoying the crazy wind that blew one day.

{oh my heart} enough said.

(both Pinterest inspired) Left: made some cute hair pieces. Right: boiled leftover orange peels and a little bit cinnamon. ah.ma.zing.

left: Chase wanted a drool bib on like Shai. too funny. middle: waiting for momma to blow on their bellies. Right: morning crawl-in-momma’s-bed-and-snuggle, pillow talk.

yet another pinterest inspired idea. Chalkboard canvas. I made a mini one for Chase so now he too can join me in doing a weekly chalkboard quote/verse or in his case – rad art.

for the first time in MONTHS I got my hair cut and layered by my sister. I had to get 2 1/2 – 3 inches of split ends cut off. :( it’s still longer than my usual short layered style and now, WAY healthier. Thanks, sis :)

Thought it’d be a blast for daddy and momma to take Chase sledding for the first time. WRONG. He hated it and cried and cried and cried. Shocked us both! I may just have to post the hilarious pictures Ted took of the experience. :)

It snowed quite a bit here this past week so we enjoyed some time outside! (no sledding ;))

DIYs for both of these coming to the blog this weekend and next week!!

and now for my fav…

my all time fav of Shai. little smirk. oh my word…

Have a great weekend!

Insta-Friday {3}

I hope you had a wonderful week! Here’s a snidbit bit of a week with the Davis fam!

We cheered for the Broncos. My grandma yelled her little heart out, “Throw the ball, Timmy, throw the ball!” (She has a little Timmy Tebow crush. The photo above is of her fridge and there among our family photos is Tim Tebow. Love you, Grandma!) Sad, sad game. I watched only a few games this season and every time I did they lost. It’s not you Denver Broncos, it’s me. ;)

Sunday I was “sicker than a dog”. I stayed home with my little guys because we all had head colds, but by the afternoon I was throwing up (eh, and other tummy troubles…), achy, chills, etc. It lasted less than 24hrs and I was the only one sick with it…whatever “it” was. Above right photo; Chasey-boy and I had a little picnic before I felt horrible.

Left: I accidentally dropped this while moving things around and could not believe it. I couldn’t stop laughing and was especially glad Ted witnessed it. For some reason that made it so much funnier. (what you don’t see here is that I’ve dropped this before, a few years ago, and the guys leg fell off :)) Right: I added the “you + me” above our bed.

It snowed for like one whole day. Then we were back up to the 50s/60s the next. Good ol’ bipolar Colorado. I really do love it though! The warm temps that is. I really, really don’t like winter! (btw- I spy with my little eye…..)

I’ve really tried this year to get my butt in gear with a lot of things that have often or always been on my hopes/goals lists. I may be a little too ambitious with it all but we’ll see. I’m not sharing all my hopes for 2012 aloud (on here and only with Ted and one friend), I decided this year I’d share after they are accomplished (or for some, as I’m accomplishing them) because of this TED talk that my Ted showed me. It inspired me to get moving first, then share (or not). It talks about how we tend to feel a sense of accomplishment/satisfaction in sharing alone. It rang so true to me (not for everyone) that I decided to see what happens if I just do first, then share… and wow.I am hoping to share more and more as the months go by.

This month one of my feats is finally, FINALLY figuring out what works for me and my little family in regards to budget friendly meal planning (2 weeks out), couponing, smart shopping, etc. I feel burdens literally lifting from my shoulders doing this. This week I decided to snap pictures of a bit of my process and share. Yay! Please know, I’m not braggin’ here. Seriously, I’m not claiming super woman here. Seriously, it’s taken me 5 years of being a wife and 3 years of being a momma to figure out what works for us, HA!

Left: I was kind of stunned to see this number pop up after my last post. 646. Just wow. I love it! Since I was a teenage girl, I’ve been journaling and blogging my heart away (on Xanga back in the day. Anybody remember Xanga? Does it still exist?) Right: I’ve begun to blog a bit more as you can see. Like I said in the past few posts, I miss it. Let me just say without saying everything, there is a lot more coming this year. I’m sad to say I’ve said I’d write many blogs regarding this or that and then I never did (um. exactly the point of the TED talk…) I had every intention (intention smention :) without being intentional and actually {doing} them. Enough said…

Got my hair did. By THE cutest stylist ever. heart-throb. ;)

Spent a late night up with this little cutie. Besides the one late night, he’s a phenomenal sleeper. He’s ten times better than my 2.5yo. I was a little nervous at first but now… AMAZING.

Left: We had two dear friends come up to visit us. Upper photos: My friend showing Chase her salsa dance moves and holding baby Shai. Bottom left; Chase and my friend skating in the house in vintage fisher price skates I pulled out of someone’s trash (and cleaned, don’t you worry ;)) Right: We made delicious and healthy homemade pizzas on whole wheat tortillas. Seriously, so good and SO many possibilities.

I had an amazing night of worship, writing and a little bit of my heart healing this week. Ted was out-of-town for the night, it was just me and the boys. We spent the night over at my grandparents and I stumbled across this music that brought me to my knees, in tears.  After everyone went to bed, I laid awake humming it softly and crying. It moved me  so deeply. I felt things that I hadn’t in too long. BAH, I want to blog this very thing right now….

back to insta friday…

Left: Shai’s first time sucking his thumb to sleep! Right: Shailo “chatting” with his great-GREAT-grandmother. My GG. It’s her 88th birthday today. (Speaking of my GG… my grandparents and GG were in a car accident this afternoon. They are all okay, just shaken up. Would you pray for healing to their achy bodies?)

My friday mornings are painful and I’ve found that my afternoons need to be light and freeing. Something therapeutic… so my Friday’s are for sewing. Today I sewed this little baggie with fabric I had just lying around. It’s the catch-all for my purse. I already LOVE it :)

And finally,

{oh my heart}

tattoo artist: daddy (with PERMANENT marker… yes indeed :))

Today I was able to blog surf a bit and I found this cute idea to post your Instagram photos on your blog once a week. I have a bunch of other blog posts I should be doing, but they are more time-consuming. So for today, something simple; Insta-Friday.

life rearranged

This is what Chase was doing just happened minutes ago. He loves the iPad for musical purposes; drums, guitar, sitar, piano, xylophone.

My son might be a crazy one, but he’s also a quirky one as well. Very particular with some things. Like the above photo shows. This was at our church Sunday.

This here is my setup almost daily. It’s my cleaning buddy. Music makes cleaning and doing dishes more bearable. Speaking of dishes…

A DISHWASHER! My grandparents found this beauty at a garage sale. I almost cried when I saw it. Still haven’t been able to use it once because we’re waiting on a part, but she’s sure pretty! It’s the kind that hooks up to the sink because there isn’t a wall attachment. I am oh so excited!

Family trip to Windsor Lake “beach”. Ted would build a sand castle and Chase would destroy it :)

Boy zoning out, with an english muffin in his mouth, while taking daddy to work.

This week I finished a custom ordered wedding album (this was for a rehearsal dinner). So much fun!

No matter what I do, I’ll {never} be as blonde as my boys :) Maybe Boy S will come along and be the first of our 3 kiddos to have brown hair?!?! Curious and curiouser.

Side note: While I’m here, talking about my blondies, I get asked all the time if Ted is albino or if he colours his hair. So just FYI if you’re super curious… the answer is NO to both :) Not albino and it’s all natural!

THE best thing we received in the mail this week! TOMS gift card for shoes for Boy S from our friend Courtney!

Thank you, Home Depot, for your awesome carts which make shopping ten times more fun (and easier for us!)

Our hallway chalkboard which I change once a week with a new challenge or encouraging quote, verse, or saying.

Chase’s artwork for daddy.

Yep, there was a skunk in our window well.

In our household, this is how we fight dinosaurs.

My love.

I’ll end with this recommendation. Ah-mazingly adorable movie. I am a lover of animated movies and this made it to my list of animated faves!

Well, that was kind of fun. This proved to be a fun and simple weekly blog post idea!

I am playing major catch-up with the photo challenge I did last month. I finished but not with editing. Blog post on that and also about this pregnancy part 3, I think and a few other posts I have lined up, one is a DIY! Thanks for popping in.

{Happy Weekend!!}

Tomorrow we’re celebrating Chase’s 2nd birthday with friends and family!
